I should like to comment briefly on the value of title II. which authorizes a program by which we can help friendly foreign people in time of need. You may recall that just recently this program has been used to help feed Hungarian refugees In Austria. Title III deals with barter and with domestic donations. I think the fact should be emphasized that under titles II and III. in the fiscal year 1956. more than 2 billion pounds of food were distributed to needy persons at home and abroad. and of this amount 789 million pounds were distributed in the United States.
