Nine years have now gone by. Israel has emerged as a dynamic little state. a democracy in the true sense of the word. It has made great progress in every sphere of human endeavor. It has gone far in solving some of its economic. social. and humanitarian problems. in integrating nearly a million immigrants. in developing its limited resources. its industry and agriculture. and particularly in improving the standard of living of its population. Israel. however. Is still confronted with difficult international problems. with the security of its borders. its relationship with its Arab neighbors. and the problem of attaining economic selfsufficiency.
