Session #85 · 1957–59

Speech #850024514

We were given a chance to build a happier and more secure life for ourselves. Though we were foreigners we were given the same rights as those whose ancestors came to America on the Mayflower. We are happy that we live in a democratic country. I have seen the happiness in their faces. I have seen it in the face of a cafe owner who a short number of years ago was an immigrant himself and without hope. I have seen it in the faces of those who were getting their citizenship papers. I have seen it in the faces of a family going to church on Sunday.
