Mr. Speaker. all America has been aroused over the tragedy in Hungary and concerned over the plight of the courageous Hungarians who revolted against their Communist oppressors. and fled their country only when the choice was death or deportation at the hands of the foreign invaders. The President has requested prompt action on emergency legislation to permit the admission to the United States of additional Hungarian escapees. Under leave to extend my remarks. I include for the consideration of my colleagues the following resolution approved and adopted by the South Bend Deanery of the National Council of Catholic Men. of St. Joseph and Marshall Counties. Ind.. urging that the United States open its arms and welcome all Hungarian refugees.
