The bill to amend the Refugee Relief Act of 1953 so as to provide for the issuance of additional visas to certain alien orphans. introduced by Mr. IVEs (for himself and Mr. JAVITS). was received. read twice by its title. referred to the Committee on the Judiciary. and ordered to be printed in the RECORD. as follows: Be it enacted. etc.. That (a) subsection (a) of section 5 of the Refugee Relief Act of 1953 is amended (1) by striking out "4.000" and inserting in lieu thereof "9.000". and (2) by striking out "10 years" and inserting in lieu thereof "14 years." (b) Section 5 of such act is amended by adding at the end thereof the following new subsections: "(d) Any visa issued under this section to any eligible orphan who has been lawfully adopted abroad by a United States citizen and spouse while such citizen is serving abroad in the United States Armed Forces. or is employed abroad by the United States Government. or Is temporarily abroad on business shall be valid until such time as the adoptive citizen parent returns to the United States in due course of his service or business. "(e) Notwithstanding the provisions of section 20 of this act. visas may be issued under this section for a period of 2 years following the date of the enactment of this subsection."
