Session #85 · 1957–59

Speech #850002590

We have been giving much thought and attention to the problems caused by that tragedy. As a Senator from New Jersey. I visited Camp Kilmer to observe conditions there and the handling of Hungarian refugees. As we all know. President Eisenhower requested our distinguished Vice President to visit the Hungarian refugee camps in Austria and to submit a report before Congress reconvened. On January 1 Vice President NixoN made a report to the President on Hungarian refugees. Because of the importance of the subject. and because of the importance of the report. I ask unanimous consent that the Vice Presidents report to the President be published in full in the body of the RECORD.
