Session #84 · 1955–57

Speech #840236387

Mr. Speaker. the people and the Government of these United States are greatly indebted to the Polish nation. Over long periods throughout our history hundreds of thousands of her finest citizens have emigrated to our shores. Everyone recognizes the substantial Integrity and fine character of those who have had the courage to leave their familiar environment in Europe and carve for themselves a new life in America. This emigration started long before the founding of our country and reached its climax in the decades before World War II. In my district are many thousands of Polish people and their descendants. No one will deny that no finer group can be found in our national life.
