Session #84 · 1955–57

Speech #840235997

Coleman Andrews who was more interested in his legal client than in any loyalty to the United States Government. It was my belief that his attack was part of a national scheme to destroy the income tax to the advantage of the large income group rather than any other peoples in our economy. In the course of this session there were numerous other tasks. such as the support for authorization of the Pan American Games to be held In Cleveland in 1959. the clearing up of the Brancato immigration fiasco. and for numerous important immigration cases which had to be resolved. I exercised every effort to oppose the Administrations desire to increase the cost of firstclass mail from 3 cents to 4 cents. From all of the evidence which was submitted.
