BERNARD The Senate proceeded to consider the bill for the relief of Mrs. Alberta Bernard. which had been reported from the Committee on the Judiciary with an amendment in line 4. after "Mrs.". to strike out "Alberta" and insert "Aliberta". so as to make the bill read: Be it enacted. etc.. That. notwithstanding the provision of section 212 (a) (9) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Mrs. Aliberta Bernard may be admitted to the United States for permanent residence if she is found to be otherwise admissible under the provisions of that act: Provided. That this exemption shall apply only to a ground for exclusion of which the Department of State or the Department of Justice have knowledge prior to the enactment of this act.
