Session #84 · 1955–57

Speech #840197527

I deeply regret this case has been called to my attention so late in the session. because I believe the appropriate committee of the Senate should have adequate time in which to accomplish a study of the case. However. I sincerely hope that if the committee finds in the closing days of the session it cannot take final action in the case. our Immigration Service will recognize the surrounding circumstances which have caused me to introduce the bill and will hold up deportation proceedings at least until the next session of Congress. and until another bill can be introduced and a thorough study of the case can be made. I am satisfied that here is a young man who in the interest of justice and equity is deserving of being allowed to remain in this country.
