During all these years we have experienced a feeling of kinship. resulting from our common love for peace. freedom. independence. and a truly democratic way of life. Basic to this fine relationship has been a dedication to God and religious principles by the people of both our countries. I am proud of the Swedes of Minnesota and of their century of fine contributions to our way of life. As we approach the celebration of Svenskarnas Dag. I think it is. indeed. fitting and proper that we pay tribute to the Swedish immigrants for the role they have played in developing the great American heritage. and to all those people living today in this country who proudly claim Swedish descent for their contribution in keeping America great.
