Soon after the war and his return to Cologne. he was installed as rabbi of the county and city of Wuerzburg. a wellknow city in northern Bavaria. Unfortunately. the Nazi put an abrupt end to his career in Germany and after a short stay in England. he came to the United States where he became a citizen in due time. Shortly after his arrival in New York City. he was called upon by the Congregation Shaare HatikvahGates of Hopewhich was founded by a small group of refugees. to be Its spiritual leader. Under his guidance. the congregation developed into one of the largest and leading traditional immigrant congregations. Its members held a testimonial dinner in the honor of their very esteemed rabbi on May 27. 1956. at the Hotel New Yorker. New York City.
