This ties the hands of lawenforcement officers in every one of the 48 States so far as Communists and subversives are concerned. While we are talking of the Supreme Court and communism. it is worthwhile to point out that for years Federal and State officials have been trying to rid this country of Harry Bridges and his pernicious influence. Bridges has been ordered deported by the Attorney General on the ground that he had affiliated with organizations advocating the overthrow of the Government by force and violence. and that he had been a member of the Communist Party. Bridges has been convicted of fraud against the United States in obtaining naturalization by perjury in denying membership in the Communist Party. And each time these cases have traveled the long route to the Supreme Court in Washington. that Court has found a way to reverse the findings against Bridges and permit him to continue his nefarious career in this country.
