Civil. and SpanishAmerican Wars Americans of Polish descent died for the preservation of American freedom. More recently. during World War I. 300.000 PolishAmericans served in defense of their adopted country. and in World War II more than 900.000 served. As Polish patriotism contributed to the security of our country their stability aided in its development. The Polish immigrants come to America endowed with a capacity for assiduousness and a love of God. The Poles are not afraid of work. They cultivated our soil. constructed our railroads. developed -our coal. iron. and copper mines. and as they gained proficiency. contributed to the expansion of our industry.
