There has. been no bill from the Veterans Affairs Committee since I have been a member of it that has received more careful consideration than this bill. There are no gimmicks or new interpretations of the immigration laws in this bill. We have used the precedents establishing the legitimacy of any child. but the bill has been very. very carefully considered over a period of more than a year. There have been a number of roundtable discussions by representatives of the Government who will be concerned with this bill. and there were very careful hearings -held on the bill. There is no intent on the part of the chairman to try to pass this bill hurriedly.
