Speech #840130394

I include an address made by the Honorable Joseph Kajeckas. counselor of the Lithuanian Legation. on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of Lithuanian independence at the reception of the American Lithuanian Society in Washington. D. C.. on February 19. 1956: Todays commemoration of the 38th anniversary of the proclamation of Lithuanias independence comes during a time when the Lithuanian nation is enslaved. The hardship endured under Russias czars is incomparable with the presentday slavery Imposed by the Red czars of Russia. The fate of Lithuanian deportees to Siberia is a very sad one indeed. Many have perished and many more other innocent Lithuanians will perish before the day of freedom dawns. The enemy ridicules the martyrdom of enslaved peoples.
