Together with several other Members of Congress. and representing 40 Republican Members of Congress. we called the other day on Secretary Dulles. having presented him with a letter which I am including in the RECORD. stating our views. Those views included our belief that there should be immediate shipment of arms to Israel to counter the Communist activity in the area. and the shipment of arms from Soviet satellites to Egypt. Those views also included our concern over the resettlement of the refugee problem. the Jordan Valley development. but most of all they concerned means by which we might preserve the peace of the area through the implementation of the Tripartite Pact or by use of the framework of the United Nations if. in proceeding within the framework of the United Nations. we Appendix would have a reasonable hope of success. We talked to Secrdtary Dulles and from that talk emerged several important developments. In the first place. in an editorial in the Philadelphia Inquirer of January 27.
