I am going to take this editorial of July 8 and demonstrate to you to what extent this man. Alan Barth. who wrote it.went in order to attempt to discredit me. He started by stating: The latest case in point involves Chief Judge William Denman. of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. which upheld a district court decision displeasing to the Congressman. in sentencing an alien convicted of smuggling. the district court judge recommended against deportation. That is not the fact at all. This matter was never presented to Judge Denman. This fine old gentleman went out of his way to attack me because I expressed displeasure and apprehension over the fact that a United States district judge would recommend that an alien racketeer be not deported.
