Chairman. I wish to rise in support of H. R. 3822. a bill to provide for continued importation of Mexican agricultural labor to the United States. My own congressional district normally requires approximately 4.000 of these migrant workers annually and for many of my farmer constituents. especially those producing sugar beets and pickles. the presence of these Mexican workers is essential. Domestic labor is not present in sufficient quantities to fill this need. I believe the committee amendment which would terminate the act on June 30. 1959. as well as the amendment to section 502 are fair to all concerned.
