Mr. President. on behalf of myself. the Senator from New York . the Senator from Pennsylvania . and the Senator from New Jersey . it is my pleasure to introduce. for appropriate reference. a bill proposing several amendments to the Refugee Relief Act of 1953. These amendments are essentially those proposed by President Eisenhower on this subject on last Friday. May 27. Since President Eisenhower covered these proposals in some detail. and the reasons for recommending them. I shall not take the time of the Senate on this occasion to discuss the proposed amendments. Mr. President. I ask that the bill lie on the desk until the close of business on Thursday. next. in order that other Senators who are interested in sponsoring the bill may add their names to it.
