The envelope was the kind that you buy for a penny in a corner store. The address on the envelope was written in a small. almost childish hand. And inside was a letter. handwritten. in the same hand. on a penny sheet of stationery. requesting help on a private immigration case. and the signature. humbly and unpretentiously. was "Albert Einstein." This was some 10 years ago. and the memory of this simple little letter stays with me. for it was a mark of the mans humility and greatness. When I spoke with him. as I had the honor to do on a number of occasions. I was again struck by the simplicity of this man who had opened vistas of science that even today are remaking the world.
