Session #84 · 1955–57

Speech #840045090

The national Reserve plan has been evolved after better than 1 year of hard work and consultation on all levels of Government and after 3 months additional study and revision in the Armed Services Committee. I believe we shall be taking one of the most shortsighted views in the history of this body if we do not give our full support to this measure. It will provide our Nation with a very sizable increase in necessary strength. and what is more it will serve notice on potential enemies that we are determined to maintain all areas of our military readiness on an uptodate and strengthened basis. It will reinforce our basic philosophy of going forward to reduce world tensions from a position of strength. Immigration and Naturalization Policies
