These years have held untold hardships and deprivations. both psysical and of the spirit. There has been a systematic attempt by the Communists to destroy all vestiges of racial and national autonomy. In order to further convert the individual Hungarian into the soulless. subservient robot. which is the ideal Communist citizen. the government under the aegis of the Red army has through mass deportations. terrorization. and religious persecution attempted to instill in him a feeling of individual helplessness. He has been made to feel that no aspect of his daily existence is safe from the mad caprices and controls of the government. And yet. the Hungarian people have resisted the alien ideologies which the Communists have attempted to force upon them.
