Mr. Speaker. today I am introducing a bill to amend and revise our present immigration and naturalization law. I am also introducing a bill to amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 so as to increase the minimum hourly wage from 75 cents to $1.25. First. may I state that insofar as the present Immigration and Naturalization Act is concerned. I am in vigorous support of the chief objections to this law. At no time in the history of our Nation has there been a more desperate need. for the sake of preservation of civilization. to resolve misunderstandings. fears. and distrust among the peoples of the world.
