We did this by the swift enactment of legislation designed to plug the loopholes in our security. We stripped the Communist Party of all legal rights. We denied Government comfort to RedInfiltrated labor unions. We sent 50 Communist leaders to jail. We deported more than 100 lingering sub. versives. who plied the Communist intrigue for years without bothering to apply for citizenship while they planned the destruction of this Nation. Why the alien subversives were accorded the freedom of this Nationsome for more than a decadewe have yet to learn. We still seek the answer to the question of who built the barrier of illegal protection around them.
