I sincerely believe that the Board was in error in denying Transoceans application and that the President should reverse this position. For 9 years this company has been pioneering new and novel ideas in the field of air transportation. Starting as a contract carrier to the Military Air Transport Service. it very quickly moved into the field of mass transportation of laborers to the Pacific area. then in the process of being rebuilt. and into the movement of immigrants from the ravaged areas of Europe to Canada and to South America. In these years it has supplied the knowhow of American aviation to the Philippine Islands through the Philippine Air Lines. to Japan through the Japan Air Lines. to the Middle East through Air Jordan and Iranian Airways. to Indonesia through training air cadets for the New Indonesian Air Force. and is participating in the training of one of the worlds newest airlines. the Lufthansa of Germany. During these years it has contributed to our military efforts principally in the Berlin airlift and in the Korean airlift.
