While we have 3 million unemployed and are increasing our debt. there is no unemployment in Great Britain and France and Britains budget is balanced. There is more than $10 billion of our aid today in the pipeline for foreign nations. including Great Britain and France. which they have not yet been able to spend because of the vastness of our extreme generosity. While we are still being requested to give even more to Europeans. we are to concentrate on massive aid for the hundreds of millions of Asiatics in order to demonstrate our bigness of heart and our great regard for their wellbeing. This will. of course. require billions more of our taxpayers money and. even worse. billions in additional debt for future generations to try to pay. This proposal seems to make a piker of Henry Wallace who made the suggestion several years ago that we should try to furnish milk to the Asiatics. a suggestion for which he was generally ridiculed. The Presidents state of the Union address advised us that the National Advisory Committee on Highways had recently reported to him. advising what should be done with reference to highways. The President will transmit his recommendation to Congress on this subject on January 27.
