Smook of Chicago. represented Mr. Walkowec. Mr. Smook has been very active in Ukrainian affairs and served 3 years in Europe with the International Relief Organization. He estimates there are at least 30.000 displaced persons in the United States from Iron Curtain countries. who have lied about their nationality hefe. Mr. Walkowee had entered the United States in 1949 on an immigration visa from occupied Germany. He had been born in the Russian Ukraine. As a result of the occupation of the Ukraine during World War II by the German forces. Walkowec. like thousands of other Ukrainian men. women. and children. was transported into Germany as a slave laborer.
