The groundwork has been laid for revising the atomic energy law. looking to peaceful application of scientific developments. A new Hoover Commission has been set up and 12 reorganization plans adopted in the interest of greater economy and efficiency. Laws have been passed making it possible more effectively to combat communism and subversion at home. Successful prosecutions and deportations have greatly increased the hazards of treason and subversion. and more than 2.400 security risks have been eliminated from Federal jobs. Great improvements and increased benefits have been provided in broadened social security. A constructive agricultural program has been enacted. including a plan for a $1.3 billion farm surplus disposal abroad.
