Meyer Lansky. and Bugsy Siegel. and so forth. Louis I. Pokrass was born in Korsun. Russia. July 17. 1898. He came to the United States in either 1913 or 1914. enlisted in the United States Navy in 1918. was naturalized in New York City on September 5. 1918. received an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1919. and has resided in New York since that time. During the prohibition era Mr. Pokrass was arrested four times for violations of the National Prohibition Act. with the charges being dismissed in each instance.
