I should like to advise the majority leader that on Monday a subcommittee of the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs will release a report that has been 10 months in the making which includes very strong recommendations for closer cooperation with the nations of the Western Hemisphere in order to become selfsufficient in the production of the things without which we cannot fight a war or live in peace so that we may not remain dependent upon offshore materials that we could not possibly depend on should a war start. I am very glad to support this resolution. It singles out the international Communist movement. but I do not believe that is the only movement in South America that is dangerous to this Nation. Peaceful infiltration of European or Asiatic nations for political and economic control may well be just as dangerous.
