I do not believe that Congress would ever vote. or should vote. to have the United States go in on a unilateral basis. It would have to be a united effort. not a token effort. but a real united effort. In other words. if there is not sufficient power and strength in Asia. or in some Asiatic country which is willing to take the chance. to stop communism. as we say. or give freedom. and work on the basis of freedom. with some support from the other free nations of the world. then it is a lost cause. as I see it. Unless those conditions are brought about we should not go in. To go in on a unilateral basis would be to go into a trap.
