The United States has never recognized the fake annexation of Lithuania by Communist Russia. In fact. the American people have on numerous occasions protested against the atrocities perpetrated against the Lithuanian and other Baltic peoples. The Congress of the United States has granted a haven in this country to many hundreds of thousands of displaced persons and refugees since the end of World War II. and among these some 26.000 Lithuanians entered our country and are today loyal and productive citizens. More recently. Congress has set up a Select Baltic Committee. which is now conducting an investigation of the forced seizure of Lithuania.
