Mr. Speaker. I have today introduced a bill to amend section 349 (a) (9) of the Immigration and Nationality Act relating to the loss of nationality by nativeborn or naturalized citizens. The purpose of the amendment is to forfeit the citizenship of those who are convicted of advocating or conspiring to overthrow the Government of the United States by the use of force or violence. This proposed legislation was recommended by President Eisenhower in his state of the Union message delivered to the joint session of Congress on last Thursday. I trust the Committee on the Judiciary of the House. of which I am a member. will proceed expeditiously to consider this bill and that it will shortly be enacted by the Congress.
