Session #83 · 1953–55

Speech #830100536

They have raised the specter of the great pressure upon ememployment in this country. yet these same persons supported the bill to bring Mexican agricultural workers to this country and have opposed efforts to prevent the illegal entry of Mexican workers into this country. They have raised the specter of a flood of criminals into the United States. These are not new arguments. They are the same arguments that have been used to oppose every liberalizing immigration act that has been brought up for consideration in the history of the United States of America. If you must vote against this bill. I hope you will do it openly.
