Session #83 · 1953–55

Speech #830045602

We are the most disliked nation in the world today. not only among the darker peoples of Africa and Asia but among the AngloSaxons of Europe and now among the Caribbeans right in our own back yard. In the eyes of the world we are the Western Hemisphere counterpart of the Union of South Africa. We have established a CapetownWashington. D. C.. axis. President Eisenhower did not cover the entire picture in his recommendations for amendments to the McCarranWalter immigration bill. He omitted recommending the doing away with the equality by discrimination that we have forced upon our nextdoor neighbors. I am sure this was an oversight.
