Mohler. director of the National Catholic Welfare Conference Bureau of Immigration. recently reviewed the Catholic Churchs longstanding opposition to the nationaloriginsquota policy as unfair. unscientific. and highly discriminatory. The American Baptist convention recently passed a. resolution urging Congress to revise the McCarranWalter Act. so that it would be more in keeping with our democratic traditions. The Disciples of Christ approved a more or less similar resolution. as did the triannual general convention of the Episcopal Church. last September.
