Mr. President. last week. during the debate on resolutions reported by the Committee on Rules and Administration providing for the appropriation of money for the Committee on the Judiciary. there was colloquy between other Senators and myself regarding the overwhelming burden of claims in immigration cases before the Committee on the Judiciary. There seemed to have been some misunderstanding as to the jurisdiction of the Court of Claims. During the colloquy I may have inadvertently left an impression as to the jurisdiction of the Court of Claims which could have been misunderstood. As a result. the Chief Judge of the Court of Claims. the Honorable Marvin Jones. has sent me a letter which clarifies the jurisdiction of the Court of Claims in such matters.
