Session #82 · 1951–53

Speech #820234890

The chairman admitted that he had never heard of such procedure before. but just because it was new was no reason it should not be tried because. after all. we wanted to get these bills heard. The Lommittee. needless to say. had nothing to say about these methods. The need for holding these hearings was so important in the chairmans mind that meetings were scheduled during the time the House was meeting and debating some very important and serious measures on the floor of the House. For example. on June 10 we were considering the adoption of the conference report on the immigration and naturalization bill. H. R. 5678.
