Session #82 · 1951–53

Speech #820230159

Mr. President. I merely want to associate myself. as I have formerly. with the prepared statement. and with the remarks of the Senator from New York. The statement represents the views of some of us who were in vigorous opposition to the McCarran immigration bill. Of course. Mr. President. we are grateful to the conferees that there were some adjustments made in conference. but I may say. with equal candor. that some of those adjustments were pointed out and debated on the floor of the Senate for days. and we were told that there were no concessions to be made.
