Miss Utley was admitted to this country by private law 372 of the Seventyeighth Congress. approved September 27. 1944. She had to wait 5 years after immigrating to become a citizen. This private bill was neccessitated because she stated frankly when she came in that she had been a member of the British Communist Party from 1928 to 1931. Last August she became an American citizen.
