Speech #820222330

Mr. President. I learned today that a Communist unit in New York City has circularized foreignborn voters in that city urging that each send a letter or telegram to the President demanding that he veto the new immigration bill. The circular. of which I have a copy. not only viciously falsifies with regard to the terms of the measure but it appeals directly to race prejudice in atJune S tempting to influence the President of the United States. It would seem to me that a campaign of this kind. originating with those who have pledged themselves to support a foreign government which openly plots the destruction of our Government by force and violence. should throw suspicion on all the protests against the new bill.
