I wish to commend the gentlewoman from New York. and desire to say that I oppose both the pending amendments. Mr. Chairman. I rise in opposition to both of the pending amendments which would cut down on the amount of aid to Israel and Arab refugees. The young State of Israel is a very effective. wellorganized. and wellordered democracy. She is a tower of strength. vigor. and hope in a sensitive area of the worldthe Near East. We need strength and democratic forces in that area just as we do in all the other areas of the world. The bill before us is a mutualsecurity bill. in the mutual interest of the United States and the countries we are assisting.
