The clerk has admitted the probability of error. I want to make it clear that in introducing this bill. I am not importuning the Congress to permit an alien who should be deported to remain in this country. Neither am I asking that the consequences of executing Form 301 be waived if Dr. Pianetto executed that form knowing of its contents and the resulting effects. But if this man. a potential benefactor of the sick. is subject to deportation through the error of a representative of the Government. then I hope that Congress will right the wrong and permit him to.remain in this country. In 1946 Dr. Pianetto went to Canada. applied for a permanent visa. and reentered the United States to apply for citizenship. Then came the warrant for arrest. based on the draft form which. it is contended. he mistakenly filled out. I am not one who advocates breaking down our immigration barriers. or who is opposed to the deportation of undesirable aliens. I have no desire to assist anyone who has consciously dodged the draft. I ask that an investigation be made by the Senate Committee on the Judiciary.
