Speech #810176886

They therefore demand that Congress deny Arizonas claim to its share of Colorado River water or at least indefinitely delay any recognition of that claim until they will be in a better position to get it. Today there is an acute shortage of power in southern California. just as there is in Arizona. The 5.000.000 people who now live there would find no difficulty in making use of all power to be generated at Bridge Canyon. Certainly the next 5.000.060 immigrants who they are sure will come there will need power. If the southern Californians could be assured of control over all of the Bridge Canyon power. they would be enthusiastically supporting appropriations by Congress for the immediate construction of that dam. silt or no silt. In proof of what I am saying.
