Session #81 · 1949–51

Speech #810154759

President. here we are. with 4.000.000 unemployed. a million out on strike. 8.000.000 on parttime work. passing bills in this very Congress to take care of lowcost housing that will cost untold billions of dollars. We need $12.000.000.000 to modernize the educational plant. Five million little Americans have no place to go to school unless we spend billions of dollars in the next few years. Yet there is a desire to break down the immigration laws. and open the floodgates to all these displaced persons. Tonight in Israel there are close to a million displaced persons. They are not covered by the bill.
