Chairman. I greatly deplore the fact that from time to time a gentleman who himself has no knowledge of foreignborn or those of foreign parentage can make unwarranted and unfair attacks upon them. A little while ago the statements of the gentleman from Texas indicated to me that the gentleman has been misled by a few professional immigration restrictionists who have been injecting their poisonous venom into Members and also into members of committees before whom legislation such as this is presented for consideration and action. It is unnecessary for me to elaborate further on this important and humane legislation. as I expressed myself in my remarks yesterday. I must point out. however. that this legislation is endorsed by nearly all the civic and religious organizations in the United States and by L7184 individuals who are interested In the pi~t of these unfortunate men. women. and children who were made homeless by the brutal. murderer. heartless barbarian.
