I have received the information from persons who have firsthand knowledge of the situation and In whom I have implicit confidence. in fact. I have known them for many years. So far as I can learn. the Arab refugees in Palestine may perhaps qualify for the doubtful designation of being the most unhappy people on the face of the earth. if anything can be done to resettle them under happier circumstances. I think it would be only a humane effort on the part of the United States to do all within its power to bring about that desirable objective. I do not advocate increasing appropriations. as a rule. but from the knowledge which I have of the situation. which was given to me by persons in whom I have complete confidence.
