An estimated $600.000.000 will be asked for asid to China and KoreaI do not know whether they will be granted. but it is requestedand for military aid to Greece and Turkey. Six hundred million dollars was supposed to cover all those items. Another $1.000.000.000 will be spent for relief in the areas occupied by the United States Army. Through the International Refugee Organization and the displacedpersons program. the United States will be giving additional assistance for relief and rehabilitation purposes. According to the Presidents budget. the estimated expenditures for these assistance programs. including ECA. for fiscal 1950. will total a very substantial sum. The committee kept these figures constantly in mind to make certain that the United States does not exceed its resources.
