The reason for my request Is that the work of Investlgating the immigration laws anc the administration thereof was V..igned to the Committee on the Judiciary by the Eightieth Congress by Senate Resolution No. 137. The time for such authorization expires tonight. Extension of time has been approved by the Committee on Rules and Administration and by the Committee on th- Judiciary. Unless the time can be extended by the Senate today the entire investigation will cease tonight. the committee will lose its staff. and the work which has been under way for the past 7 months would be lost.
